Harold Hamm, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Continental Resources

In February 2009, Forbes Magazine called Harold Hamm “The Last American Wildcatter” because he is still finding oil in the U.S. In 1967, Harold incorporated Shelly Dean Oil Company (named after his two oldest daughters), which later became Continental Resources. Today, Continental is a successful independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company that operates in 20 states and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Harold is also Chairman of the Boards of Hiland Holdings and Hiland Partners and is a member of the Board of Complete Production Services. In 2007, Harold was first named to the Forbes Magazine’s list of the 400 wealthiest Americans. He is No. 44 on their latest list.

Greg Hill, Executive Vice President and President of Exploration and Production, Hess Corporation

Hill joined Hess in January 2009 from Shell where he spent 25 years in a variety of operations, engineering, technical and business leadership roles in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the United States. Hill served as Senior Vice President of Aera Energy, a California-based joint venture affiliate of Shell and Mobil, from 1997 to 2002, where he was responsible for the majority of the operations of the company. Hill holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming.

 

Aubrey K. McClendon, Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Director, Chesapeake Energy Corporation

McClendon co-founded the company with Tom L. Ward in 1989 with only a $50,000 initial investment and an objective to build a sizeable natural gas exploration and production company. Mr. McClendon is a native Oklahoman and graduated from Duke University in 1981.  In addition to being active in many economic development initiatives across the United States, he has made it a priority to have an impact on the social vitality of communities in which Chesapeake Energy operates.

Thomas A. Petrie, vice chairman, Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Petrie was a co-founder of Petrie Parkman & Co., a Denver and Houston based energy investment banking firm that merged with Merrill Lynch in December 2006.  With this transaction, he became a vice chairman of Merrill Lynch, which was subsequently acquired by Bank of America.  Previously, he was a managing director and senior oil analyst at The First Boston Corporation. During his career, Petrie has been an active advisor on more than $200 billion of energy related mergers and acquisitions, including many of the largest.  Among other assignments, Petrie Parkman advised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its natural gas initiative, the State of Alaska on gas pipeline options, and the U.S. Department of Energy on the sale of the Elk Hills oilfield.
